Today, when I logged in my Facebook account I saw something strange. As most of you know Facebook is upgrading and rolling out many new features. Today it launched Question. This feature will enable users to ask their friends Questions. This is what Adrian Graham, a project manager of Questions said,

There are a lot of places you can go on the internet to ask questions of people who you don’t know, but there are very few places you can go to get responses from your friends,” said Adrian Graham, a project manager for Questions. “We thought that this is where we should focus.

The version is rolled out to current testers first. It will be automatically be upgraded to their riends once they start asking Questions. Those who are eagerly waiting to use it can enable it directly from here.

When you ask question, you get an option to create poll and restricted answers. This option enables you to restrict answers to only those you select. It also has an attached comment box so that those who want to say something else can also say.

When your friends answers the question or comments anything, the question automatically gets posted on his or her profile. This way the question gets spread to most Facebook Users. This way you get more response to your Question. As users respond to Question asked, each option’s box gets filled and reflect its popularity. In this way, users see the poll Question and result at same time. It also displays the profile picture of those who respond the Question against each options of poll they have selected.

Yes. Don’t get a shock if I say Google, which today stands as the World’s most attractive employer and also rank one among the engineering companies was once hired by Yahoo (which was once its competitor too) to be its default search engine. Well, even I didn’t know about this and shocked too while I come to know. I was just going through Google History, actually timeline, I got an eye on ‘Yahoo! signs up for Google search’. I thought it would be a normal page about a small deal or something, but no it wasn’t! It was not a small deal. It created a lot buzz among the geeks that time, but I don’t think anyone does remember about it today. Do you? Not nah? That’s why I thought why not to share it among others.

On 26 June, 2000 Yahoo! and Google announced that they have entered into an agreement that will make Google, which was one of the fastest growing Web company that time their default search engine from the next 30 days of the agreement. In my opinion, this agreement was what all made the Google Web what it is today. Yahoo! being ruler of that time integrated Google to their online products and made it famous among its users too, which also become a reason for others to choose Google as their favorite and look Yahoo! Search Technologies down upon.

Hello guys! It’s been a long time I have not posted anything. I know, being an editor it’s my duty to be active, but I was busy doing some work of our network with Ankit. Last time I told you about what updates Twitter did last month? And also about the new Retweet page that they introduced (to only some fortunate users), which is very helpful, especially for all who are using Twitter for business. These days Twitter is up to something different.

They are testing three new features and this time in the search page. They have added three new features called ‘Save this search’, ‘Top Tweet’  and added a search box in sidebar too with up and down uptions.

This is not of any use as I think. It just counts the number of Retweets a tweet gets and if crosses 90 or 100 it becomes a top tweet.

From a long time Orkut was not in news. The last time when I saw an update from Orkut was when they released their new version. The reason behind not doing any new update could that most of the users migrated to Facebook because of its cool features (of course which Orkut does not have and what they have is all copied too). Today while reading a scrap I came across an update from Orkut (at last!).

As you can see in the image that now Orkut has started displaying online status on images only. Well, honestly this is the first update I have seen that Orkut has not copied from Facebook or Twitter. My opinion it’s a great update and will help its users to identify easily that who’s online, busy, or idle.

A new facebook scam has started on facebook. It’s a video spam named Candid Camera prank! [HQ] has been circulating. Actually this is not a video and it links to an application which will take you to download a file named vlcplayer.exe (a software to play VIDEO & MP3 files) and running this will post this message on your friends’ wall. So it will keep spreading as the users keep on clicking on the scam link.

Here’s the message it displays on Facebook wall: Name, This is without doubt the sexiest video ever!. The length is shown to be 3:17.

When you click on the link, you will be taken to http://apps.facebook.com/nadq_sdas/, then it will ask to continue and says that your video player is out of date. It then brings to another page to download a file. Don’t click these links when you see these types on posts on your wall on your Friends’ wall. Simply remove these posts from your walls.

I personally tried this so that I can know how it worked, thankfully while downloading the file my anti virus deleted that file because it contained a virus. So now I know it contains virus…So guys stop clicking on such scam links and don’t download such files though precaution is the best policy.

If you have already clicked on the application and allowed access to that application you can go to application settings under your facebook settings and can remove access of that application.

I’m continuously blogging since the launch date of Extreme Trix version one. Now I’m completely tired by blogging. Blogging is disturbing my studies and my social life too. Because of blogging I’m not able to focus on my studies properly nor able to spend time with my friends and family. This time I want to score good marks not like what I scored in first term. I was getting second rank in my class, but I failed in Mathematics so didn’t get any rank.

I still have two months to prepare for my exams so I can score good marks. I have decided to take a long break from blogging. We’ll be back after the month of Feburary when my exams will get over and my holidays will start. After coming back the first thing I’m going to do is the launch of first WordPress theme (haven’t decided its name yet, actually its under construction). Hope you guys will like it.

Hi guys, this is Prateek Makhija this side. I am new contributor of Extreme Trix. I’m sure that most of the readers of Extreme Trix would be familiar with the best micro-blogging service Twitter and some of the users may be also using it in their daily life as it is good for marketing. Today I got a great news from Official Japanese blog of Twitter for all those who are using Twitter as a marketing tool to promote their site/service that they are soon going to launch paid corporate accounts, according to co-founder and CEO Biz Stone. While speaking at an event in London, Stone said Twitter plans to charge for corporate accounts, and in exchange, would offer enhanced features and analytics in return.

Digital Garage, Inc, their official partner from Japan misunderstood the actual plans of Twitter service and made a statement about the recent press coverage about Twitter service in Japan as below:

In response to media reports stating that Twitter Japan will be launching a paid-premium accounts service on Twitter, we would like to officially state that this is not correct. To be clear, Twitter service in Japan is a free service and neither Twitter Inc. nor Digital Garage, Inc. (JASDAQ code: 4819, headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan, CEO: Kaoru Hayashi, henceforth DG) have discussed or have any plans for paid-premium accounts. Also to clarify, Twitter Inc. and DG enjoy a commercial partnership but do not have a joint-venture arrangement in Japan.

The recent media reports are likely a result of a misunderstood presentation by a DG subsidiary, DG Mobile, about potential business opportunities that it could explore as a third party. DG Mobile’s presentation was unrelated and separate from the Twitter and Digital Garage partnership.

Digital Garage apologized (by DG Mobile) to mislead and took time for correction on the release. I think what Twtter wants to do and what DG wants to do in Japan are not the same, and DG uses its subsidiaries to chase more original activities. Twitter going to launch paid corporate accounts soon! is a post from: Extreme Trix

You may remember that Extreme Trix was deleted on 16th of November and it took me almost complete two days to make it live again without any problem, it was entirely my fault for not keeping a backup, but from now onwards I have started using WP-DB-Backup plug-in which helps me in getting daily backup easily. When Extreme Trix was deleted the biggest challenge to me was to solve SEO problems. Actually I had two installations of WordPress in my Database one was of WordPress 2.7.1 and second one was of WordPress 2.8.1. I wanted to remove WordPress 2.7.1 as ET was powered by 2.8.1 and the blog which was powered by 2.7.1 was just a test blog which was consuming my free space and making ET very slow.

While deleting that first installation of WordPress by mistake second one (blog directory) also got deleted where Extreme Trix was installed. I lost my everything images, videos, docs and even some articles too. Thanks to Farhan and Prateek bro who helped me in finding back images and permalinks of the posts and pages from Google Cache. At last after continuous hard work of five hours my images and permalinks were restored.

The second challenge for me was to redirect some pages and my forum (my forum was also deleted so I installed a new one) be directory to the new one. I searched on Google about how to redirect PHP based pages and finally got a solution. First my login page was www.extremetrix.com/wp-login.php but now its www.extremetrix.com/blog/wp-login.php. To redirect old page to new one I simply made a new PHP file and added this piece of code -

then saved it with name wp-login.php in my root directory.

Firstly when I launched Extreme Trix’s forum, it was with permalink forum, but when I re-installed it I changed the permalink to “support” instead of forum. To redirect forum to support what I did is just made a blank directory with name “forum” and made an index.htm file. In that index file I added a piece of HTML code (301 redirection code) which redirects and tells the crawler not to index forum directory. The code was -

Last challenge for me was to find a free SEO optimized theme for New version of Extreme Trix, I didn’t want again use my old theme because everything was new on my blog and moreover it was a bit un-professional. After reading reviews of 5-6 free themes the best theme I found was Swift by Satish bro. That time I was expecting a spike in my traffic so I switched to it as it was light and had very cool features.
