I’m sure that you would be fimilar with Opera’s mobile browser – Opera Mini and most of you may be using it on your handset. Today I activated my GPRS plan for Vodafone and started browsing Web, but the browser was too slow so thought why not to download Opera? When I visited its site came through a note – ”Opera Mini 5 has been optimized for Vodafone services for your SonyEriccsson w350i. You’ll find the updated browser in same folder as you used it.” I clicked on the download now button and came through a new version of Opera Mini five with bit enhanced by Vodafone services.
I ‘Googleed’ it after installing Opera and found that Vodafone have collaborated with Opera to enhance their mini browser’s functions and they are making some widget for it too (can be found at widgets.opera.com).
I also came across an official release on Opera website, in the release they said:
Vodafone is seeking to bring the benefits of the internet to more people in developing markets through the launch of a customized version of the Opera Mini browser designed to run on low-cost handsets on 2G networks.
The move aims to enable as many people as possible to experience the internet for the first time, and to enjoy the social advantages it can bring through the spread of email and commerce-based applications…
I tested the new enhanced version for four hours today and found much better than previous version, especially the Vodafone widgets are too good. If you have a Vodafone, then must give it a try. :)
