Cleaning a printer effectively without damaging it is a relatively easy task. The key is to never spray any products directly into the printer nor to get any operating parts wet. Always begin by unplugging any wires from the printer. This includes the main power supply, and any network cables. Once the printer is unplugged, you are now ready to begin.

1. Use A Damp Cloth

Simply locate a soft cotton cloth. Dampen the cloth with a gentle cleaning solution. No harsh household cleaners. Open the front door panel. Gently wipe down all accessible areas. Take notice of any paper scraps and dust build up. This is what you want to focus your attention on removing. After thoroughly wiping all areas inside of the front door panel, wipe all those areas down with a dry cloth. Repeat the drying process until you are sure that there is no moisture left in the area.

2. Clean The Printer Cartridge

If your printer has multiple printing cartridges, simply repeat this step for each cartridge. Access the area that houses the printing cartridges. Once located remove the printing cartridge. Sometimes paper that has whiteout on it may have been placed on the glass and has then left a dried piece of white out that looks like a speck on every subsequent print job.
