Tutorial to Update Samsung Galaxy 3 to Android Froyo.

Well, I know it’s being a long time since the Android 3.0 is and 2.3 even released for the tablets and smartphones in market (respectively), but still most the Android users haven’t got the taste of Android 2.2 (Froyo). As most of the companies are shipping mobiles with Eclair and not even releasing the updates users aren’t able to try it and one of the such company is Samsung. Remember Samsung promised us that they are coming for an Android update for Galaxy 3 this March, as they did for Galaxy s, but didn’t come? I remembered.

And today I was determined myself that somehow I would update my Galaxy 3 to the Froyo version and I did. Special thanks to the iGyaan Tutorial, which helped me out, and today I am gonna share the same with you.

Things Needed

Download the latest version of Kies.
Samsung original USB Cable.
Android Froyo firmware – Download Here (password = samfirmware.com)
ODIN downloader (Download Here).
OPS files (click here to download).
Windows XP or later (I performed it on Windows 7, don’t worry if your Windows is genuine or not).

Notes to be READ CAREFULLY

First of all check you Android Firmare. Call ‘*#1234#’ and note it down (if you would have to restore it).
Not All Phones would work properly after UPDATING.
You must have BACK UP of your Mobile, before updating, you can download from:

Mobile should be fully charged.

Tutorial to Update:

Take out Battery from your mobile phone. I hope it’s fully charged.
Turn off your Galaxy, remove the battery, re-insert it and then Press the following buttons together: Home + Menu + Volume + Power
You would see a download screen on mobile like:
Copyright - iGyaan.
Connect Galaxy 3 with your ORIGINAL SAMSUNG USB. Let Windows recognise it and install the drivers.
After getting message that your device is ready to use, open ODIN DOWNLOADER.
Select One Package, Auto Reboot and Protect Ops boxes.
Extract the RAR (15800xxjpa) to get a .tar file.
Select the tar in ODIN DOWNLOADER.

Now click the ‘Start Button‘ and let it update the Phone, once done it would reboot the phone.
The first reboot would take around 2 minutes or may longer. It took me 2.75 minutes.
Glad. You have Froyo on your Galaxy 3 now.

Other Notes:

Messages won’t work on Froyo Galaxy 3, though you can install ‘Handcent SMS’ as an alternate and it would work as charm.

Today I log in to Facebook to check my all status updates, messages, and comments made on my links and post. While checking everyone status update, I saw the following:

Of course curiosity kicks in my mind, and I click on the link to see why a girl would commit suicide. I was definitely thinking of some pics which would give me a clear scene of what would have happened. But I was shock to see something else.

If you click on the link then you are taken to a Facebook page, which says you have to like it in order to view the father’s alleged message. In some cases, the page will use some high techniques to trick you into sharing the page as a status update with your online friends, but the end result is the same – you’ll be redirected to a web page which asks you to complete a survey.

I think facebook should take very strong measures to avoid these spams, because these are affecting day to day life of people.

It’s been a long time from I am updating my sites with latest and qualified news, tips and much more, but today I am sorry to say that I wouldn’t be able to continue this, for a month; as my exams are going to start. This would be fourth time I am going on a break. I thought my readers won’t get any update if I would take a break again and may get pissed off from me that’s why I was even planning to sell the blogs as the buyer would continue updating sites, but thanks to Chetan bro and Akshay bro who made me realized that selling blogs wouldn’t be good for me.

Rather than selling my blogs to keep you all always being updated, I had converted my blogs into blogs cum Social Networks via BuddyPress (which is currently in testing mode (beta ) so that the guest bloggers can join Extreme Trix or Passionate Bloggers and could contribute in writing by being paid per post and moreover, they can easily interact with other members of my blogs and discuss whatever they like to. May was pretty cool month for us. This month we did a lot of work especially I want to appreciate the hard work of Ankit who made such a nice skin for the theme (now version five is final!), Ankit not only worked on the theme, but yeah we also welcomed a full-time editor – Akshay. March was simply awesome for all our blogs and was the best month especially for Extreme Trix. This month we were back to blogging after a long break of three months (our blog was not updated because Ankit‘s exams were going on). We got two sponsors this month who paid us really well just for two in-link advertisements. This March Google also showed its love for us, they gave us eight link backs and approved us for Adsense.
