But the other side is completely different where the privacy issues raised by these inventions are a serious threat to one’s personal life. Some privacy issues are discussed in here.

1. Personal information is easily available

Almost all the social networking websites, forums and chat rooms ask you for personal information before signing up. If the privacy settings are not properly configured, anyone can access your personal information, where you live and go, what you like or not. Your personality can be judged by just looking your profile page. Try to enter your personal information on sites which are trusted and have a very strong policy. By the way, DON’T trust Facebook.

2.) Email Fraud is very common

Signing up at a lot of web 2.0 sites means maintaining a clean email address is not possible anymore. As a result, your email is available to a number of parties to spam you. Some may be just sending you their newsletters while others may be thinking more dangerous. They would send you emails telling you that you have won a lottery prize or a trip to United States. What they want you to do is to respond them with your personal details and might ask you to send them a small processing fee as well. Try to have a separate email address for giving to non-trusted sites. Also, you should NEVER reply to any spammers, whatever the reason is. If you are asking them to remove your email address, you are confirming them that the email belongs to a real person who really cares about it. So, they will target you with more spam emails.

3.) Web security can be compromised

Even If you are not a computer expert, keep two different protocols in your mind; http and https. Normal web pages which display public information have http protocol. http protocol transmits data between you and server in the form of plain text. While, when personal information is displayed or asked by you, always look for https protocol. If you are asked to enter your login details on a blog like one about Medifast and Nutrisystem coupons, don’t enter the details until you see the protocol is https which transmits data between you and server in encrypted form. The protocol is mentioned in the browser before the URL.

4.) Hackers are everywhere

Hackers are always after you. They can access your personal computer or personal/business network through the loop holes in your network. The number of hackers have increased manifold in this time because of the scripts available. Script kiddies without any knowledge of hacking try to hack using the scripts built by experts having hacking knowledge. What you can do to stop them is to have all your software updated including operating system, antivirus and anti spyware. Don’t forget to have a firewall installed and configured properly on your personal or business network.

Saksham is a blogger who enjoys writing about technology and blogging. I am new contributor of Extreme Trix. I’m sure that most of the readers of Extreme Trix would be familiar with the best micro-blogging service Twitter and some of the users may be also using it in their daily life as it is good for marketing. A blogger or a web-designer can easily promote his site and even can make few bucks from it (check this article posted by Ankit if you are interested in making money from Twitter right posting from your site only.), if used in a right way. I too like to stay updated just like Ankit and other guys working on Extreme Trix. I don’t get too much time to come online so I have registered on Google Updates which automatically emails me about the latest information on that Technology & Tricks.

Today I got a great news from Official Japanese blog of Twitter for all those who are using Twitter as a marketing tool to promote their site/service that they are soon going to launch paid corporate accounts, according to co-founder and CEO Biz Stone. While speaking at an event in London, Stone said Twitter plans to charge for corporate accounts, and in exchange, would offer enhanced features and analytics in return.

Digital Garage, Inc, their official partner from Japan misunderstood the actual plans of Twitter service and made a statement about the recent press coverage about Twitter service in Japan as below:

In response to media reports stating that Twitter Japan will be launching a paid-premium accounts service on Twitter, we would like to officially state that this is not correct. To be clear, Twitter service in Japan is a free service and neither Twitter Inc. nor Digital Garage, Inc. (JASDAQ code: 4819, headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan, CEO: Kaoru Hayashi, henceforth DG) have discussed or have any plans for paid-premium accounts. Also to clarify, Twitter Inc. and DG enjoy a commercial partnership but do not have a joint-venture arrangement in Japan.

The recent media reports are likely a result of a misunderstood presentation by a DG subsidiary, DG Mobile, about potential business opportunities that it could explore as a third party. DG Mobile’s presentation was unrelated and separate from the Twitter and Digital Garage partnership.

Digital Garage apologized (by DG Mobile) to mislead and took time for correction on the release. I think what Twtter wants to do and what DG wants to do in Japan are not the same, and DG uses its subsidiaries to chase more original activities. I’m not able to understand what will they do now, but doing a lot of research on it, stay tuned I’ll keep on sharing news about it. BTW what do you guys think about it? Do let us know via comments.

News Credit: Asiajin and OOM

Twitter going to launch paid corporate accounts soon! is a post from: Extreme Trix

Announcing the winner of Google’s Adword coupon!

Advertising

Contest

Site News

Ya I know the winner of the contest was to be announced on 15th of December, but due to some personal work I was not able to come online. I know most of new bloggers in greed of money fill up their blogs with loads of advertisement or write creepy products review that is not at all good for SEO and finally result in a mess.

If you are new blogger and want to earn a few bucks from blogging without spamming or writing creepy products review, then I will recommend you guys to start using Affiliate Marketing. According to Wiki Pidea – Affiliate Marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate’s marketing efforts. It is an application of crowd sourcing. In simple language it is the commission paid by the product company which you promote.

Affiliate Marketing

Here are a few tips for starting Affiliate Marketing -

Select products based on your niche - Always select a product based on your niche, means select products based upon the topic you blog on. For e.g, if you are blogging on “Blogging” niche, then you should try to sell premium themes (like thesis) or hosting services like Host Gator.

Come up with your own ideas – It is always best to come up with your own ideas for promoting your product. Experiment with different banners, text links, or reviews. Keep these that bring good results, and change the others. Sometimes only change of few words or color of link can mean difference.

Write a review of the product – Write a small review of the product you want to promote, letting the people know how good the product is. (Like our editor posted a small review about the HostGator web hosting service. If you want you can check this – post.)

Join popular marketing forums – join some popular online marketing forums and make frequent contributions to the popular threads there. Remember you have to promote that product through your affiliate link not to spam forums.

These were some main points of Affiliate Marketing. BTW do you do Affiliate Marketing on your blog or site, if yes, then how do you judge which product is good for your blog and which one is bad?

<Image Credit>

What is Affiliate Marketing and how to start with it? is a post from: Extreme Trix

Tips to monetize your blog.

Advertising

Blogging

SEO

Blog

Hosting

Social networking

It has been more than a month since I have written any tip for new bloggers, so today in this post I am going to write some common, but effective tips to monetize a blog or website. If your blog or website is new, then I will recommend you not to use any advertisement for at least a month because putting advertisements might make your visitors feel that you blog only for money. You can start monetizing your blog after a month or two. Here are some tips to monetize your blog -

Find a most clicked area – Before putting any advertisement in your blog, first find a most clicked area, to find it, place a small badge or image (the badge should be attractive and should match your theme) with analytic code (to track number of clicks) in your sidebar. After a week or two check your analytics and if you find 100+ numbers of click, then this means you can easily make money by putting an affiliate ad there. There are varieties of affiliate ad networks, you can choose according to your niche, here on Extreme Trix we are using HostGator and WidgetBucks affiliate program.

Advertisement between posts – You can earn a good amount of money by blending Google Adsense, AdBrite, Chitika or WidgetBucks advertisements in between the – post. If you are using WordPress (self hosted) as your blogging platform, then can easily show advertisements wherever you want on your blog using Advertising Manager plug-in (which is one of the top-10 WordPress plug-ins).

In-line advertisements – If you get 5000+ daily page views on blog, then In-line advertisements are best way to make money. Here on Extrene Trix we have tried Kontera, AdBrite in-line and currently I am using Infolinks.

Do you have any other tip to monetize blogs? If yes do share it with us via comment.

Tips to monetize your blog. is a post from: Extreme Trix
